Mums

With the underside of woven clothing labels and dressmaker pins on canvas 80 x 40 cm.
I took inspiration from an old rusty tin to produce this still life with Pink Chrysanthemum (Mums). After what seemed an intense period of producing commissions for specific events it felt very refreshing to assemble a vase of flowers. Having recently lost my own Mother it was helpful for me to reflect, and to produce an arrangement in her favourite colour.
Still life study Mums has been selected for the Open Exhibition at Vivacity, Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery, Priestgate, Peterborough, PE1 1LF.
Exhibition runs from 29th March until 26th May 2019. 600 entries were shortlisted to 100, and my piece was awarded third prize.
